About
Preamble
King’s Ministers Melodies is a Support Ministry registered with the Central Nyanza Conference of Seventh day Adventist church. The ministry has been in existence for the past twenty (20) years. Kings Ministers Melodies works with the conference to realize the dream of Total Member Involvement as envisaged by the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
The Making
The King’s Ministers Melodies was born in Koru District in December 1997. From the onset, the ministry appeared destined for greater calling, having curved a niche for itselves through music. The Lord would later take the group through the school of unique and sometimes cruel experiences, in an effort to curve for Himself effective tools for the gospel work. Our programs as a ministry have since evolved from music evangelism to include such areas as medical missionary, charity programs, literature distribution, children’s ministry, prayer ministry and public evangelism. This growth that has spanned twenty years can only be attributed to the ever-sufficient Grace of God.
The choir is currently under the oversight of Central Nyanza Conference, having been registered as a supporting Ministry as per the policy of the East and Central Division of the SDA Church. An executive committee currently headed by Mr. Billy Oduor (Chairperson), Mr. Kephas Odhiambo (Asst. chairperson), Mr. Rose Achieng (Sec.), Mrs Monica Owande (Vice Sec.), Mrs. Celestine Omondi (treasurer) assisted by other committee members runs the Ministry. The choir has a Patron who serves a two - year term.
The King’s Ministers Melodies draws its origin from the Sugar Belt of Koru District of SDA Churches. It was started in 1997 when 4 young people from Koru Adventist Youth Organization (KAYO) who had just completed their high school education came together to form a singing group; the four were inspired by the powerful voices of the Morning Star Singers from Kisumu South while at Okano Wach gospel crusade in Nyakach. Apart of the Morning Star choir would later merge with the KMM in 2001 to form one great force for Christ. The group has since grown to 44 members.
Our Secretariat is based at Chekmula Building, 2nd floor along Jomo Kenyatta Avenue, within Kisumu City.
The key founders of the group are Mr. Samson Adero, Mrs. Pamela Ager, Mrs. Erica Ochieng and Mrs. Rolyne Owiro who held the first vision in December 1997. Other founder members are Mr. Jared Jagola, Mr. Hesbon Mimba, Mr. Jona Jagola, Mr. Erick Ojwang, Mr. George Oyieno, and Mr. Zachary Mokua all who joined in 1998 to help lay the foundation for this great work under the mentorship of Mr. Tim Ochieng our first and longest serving group Patron.
In our 20 years of ministry we have received tremendous and invaluable support from God’s people from all walks of life; Parents, Associates, Friends of Kings Ministers (FOK), Church members, well-wishers to mention but a few. However there is no greater input than that rendered by the choir members themselves who have proudly and unreservedly participated in implementing all our mission programs providing resources to run these programs and being physically present to minister when duty calls.
King’s Ministers Melodies is a Seventh-Day Adventist Support Ministry, affiliated to the Central Nyanza Conference of SDA Churches in Kenya.
The Ministry pulls resources together to support the less fortunate they meet in line of the gospel work. We thank God that certain people have been able to benefit from such benevolence of singers to undergo their education. These are Dalmas, Lydia Wanjare, Cliff among others. We trust that the Lord will give us the ability to help even a greater number of needy students we meet every day during our missions. The department has also attended to various needy cases in our missions, supporting widows and orphans, visiting prisoners and orphanages just to help off load their burdens.
The Ministry has earmarked church planting as a noble idea. Harkening to the call ‘who will go’, the ministry conducts a three weeks gospel campaign every year to plant a church in areas previously not entered into with the gospel, or reviving our dwindling Sabbath Schools. The Ministry currently identifies with Pap Gori SDA Church, Oduwo Sabbath School, Okano Wach SDA Church. Nyaholo Sabbath School, Masiro Sabbath School and Obaria New -Life SDA Church in Kendu Bay-Kenya Lake Conference.
The singing ministry is our core activity. Music has been transformed to meet its worship objective and not just as an entertainment tool. The driving force is the experience of the priest in 2 Chronicles 5:4; where the glory of the Lord came down and nothing else could proceed as Holy praises engulfed the temple. The ministry has so far produced 18 Audio and 8 Video CDs. We are launching the 9th and 10th Video during our King’s@20 events.
We owe it all to God for this journey of twenty years; truly Yehova has been our Ebenezer for this far we have come. May God
richly reward you for your untiring and wholehearted support throughout the entire period.
KMM
We envisage the restoration of mankind to a life of bliss and joy where the saints of God shall join in praise to the Lord in tunes unknown to this present world.
To propagate the message of Grace to all, reconciling them with the Lord and cheering the sojourners in their walk of Faith through music and biblical sharing
Under the rallying call for partners in the vineyard, the ministry boasts of a team of Associates organized into four chapters namely; Nairobi, Kisumu, South Nyanza and the Diaspora plus a group called Friends of King’s Ministers (FOK) with whom we have teamed up to do tremendous work in the past 20 years.
